How it works
Multiply each score by its weight, sum those weighted points, then divide by the sum of weights: weighted average = Σ(score × weight) ÷ Σ(weight).

Worked examples
- A score of 80 weighted 40% contributes 32 weighted points when weights total 100%.
- Scores of 80 at 40% and 90 at 60% produce a weighted average of 86.
How to calculate a weighted grade

Not for the arithmetic; the result is normalized by the total weight entered. However, many course grading schemes are designed to total 100%.
