U.S. Overtime Pay Calculator
Estimate weekly pay using the federal FLSA baseline for a covered, nonexempt hourly worker: at least 1.5× the regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
Federal calculation used
- Regular hours = up to 40 hours.
- Overtime hours = hours over 40 in the workweek.
- Overtime rate = regular hourly rate × 1.5.
- Total = regular pay + overtime pay.
The U.S. Department of Labor states that covered nonexempt employees generally must receive overtime pay at not less than one and one-half times their regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
Important limits
This is a federal baseline estimator, not legal advice. Exemptions, bonuses, commissions, multiple rates, public-sector rules, collective bargaining agreements, and state or local overtime laws can change the correct result.
Some states impose additional overtime requirements. If state law gives a worker greater protection, the applicable state rule may control.
